Several years ago, I found this impressive image on the Internet under the title “Saxon shields” and I have no reason to doubt it, although there are a few features that were not so usual among the Saxon warriors.
Their helmets with mail-visor of a common enough type among the Northern peoples could be popular among the Vikings or the Russ and were used by some Saxons. In any case, they have to be Christian warriors (that is Saxons or post-Viking Scandinavians) as the image of the front shield denotes, depicting I suppose, a Christian saint.
Kudos to the creators of the arms and armour and to the reenactors for their superb work.
